You've almost certainly heard about the infamous Facebook ban for Canadians looking for news on the site. But now there's word of an unexpected side effect of the edict - other publishers are stealing bits and pieces of that denied content and publishing parts of it as their own. And Facebook seems more than happy to allow that to continue, according to the Toronto Star.
"The Star viewed...dozens of instances, primarily on Instagram, where news headlines were turned into buzzy graphics and lines from news stories were either copied verbatim or slightly changed in the image captions. In almost all cases, the source of the news story was not included, and followers were asked to share what they thought about the news story, even though little to no context was provided."
