I’m not sure how well this speaks for “Canada’s Got Talent.” But I guess making it in the U.S. and the resultant publicity (not to mention the money) is hard to resist.
Canadian musicians look to ‘America’s Got Talent,’ other TV contests for career boost

Canadian artists have gone to more than just America for a career boost. Domestic artists have also appeared over the years on many international versions of programs like this in the UK, France, Japan and more.
This doesn't reflect at all on Canada's Got Talent, which is a much newer show as compared to the US or European versions. The fact that City TV who produces the Canadian version of the show ran the story on the Reklaw's is interesting. It could reflect mainstream Canadian radio however.
What made the group appealing to the NBC producers of America's Got Talent was the fact the group was well established in Canada. The Reklaws have had 10 top ten country albums in Canada of which 4 were number one on the country charts. They are platinum and multi platinum artists here, and big on Canadian country radio. So, the producers found them very appealing since they are so popular here.
If they do well on the show, it could very well be the jump off to success in the US. I am surprised that some of their songs haven't crossed over into the mainstream/pop charts here. But that likely reflects the poor overly cautious attitude of some "professionals" in Canadian radio who still give little support of newer Canadian artists. But continue to overplay other established songs and groups, and generally don't do much innovative musically. Country radio in Canada doesn't have this problem so much. Maybe they will be able to drag their "city slicker" cousins in mainstream radio to get with the program.

If you have to go on America's got talent and sing, it just means you are a loser that couldn't be bothered with shows like American Idol.
You already know you will lose there so you hijack America's got talent instead.
America's got talent should only be for people with talent outside of singing.
Leave the singing for shows like X factor and American Idol.
Let the winner of America's got talent be anything but a singer.
It's only fair, and it's the way it should be.
