This isn't really that big a deal, because both are paid time. But I can only wonder how Bell feels about a campaign being run for Rogers' CFTR. It involves Todd C. Slater, a real estate agent, who buys time on both stations. On 680, it's regular advertising. On 1010, he has his own weekly one-hour show on Saturday.
So I found it interesting when I heard one of those "it pays to advertise on 680 NewsRadio" spots. In that one, Slater is asked about how successful his commercials have been for his business. He tells them it's where he gets his best response. And then the unidentified announcer asks him if he had to choose just one station to advertise on, what would it be?
And to no one's surprise, Slater immediately responds that if he could only put his message out on one Toronto radio station, it would definitely be 680, because of how well it spreads his message, no question. Only 680.
So here's a guy who has a show on the competition and he's praising one of their competitors to the skies, saying he'd choose someone else over them if push ever came to shove. He gets 60 secs. max on 680 and a full hour on 'RB. Yet he'd still choose the former.
I suppose as long as he keeps paying the bill, they may not care, but to me, it's a bit of a slap in the face.

Yeah but what about Frank Leo and Lino Arcci?
Apparently Frank has the best real estate marketing system according to multiple talk show hosts on 1010, except when it's another host on 1010 saying Lino is the best in the whole world.
Which one is it?
Is John Moore lying?
Or is whoever touts Lino these days?
And besides how come only two real estate dealers know this magical marketing formular that no other real estate sellers know how to use?
Meantime should I buy a five thousand dollar (cheap) diamond tennis bracelet from Spence?

There's a real estate guy named Rob Golfi who advertises all the time on CKTB. The announcer copy is word-for-word Frank Leo's spot - only the names are changed to not protect the innocent!

Yes he's based in Hamilton. He used to be mentioned on CHML, CKTB, Burlington Transit, you name it. He is the Frank Leo of the Hamilton area.
It's sickening how I can still recite the Frank Leo tag from traffic - WORD for WORD from memory, and it's been fifteen months since I spoke into a broadcast microphone. I read it THAT OFTEN. I think the only difference in the addition of " ...with confidence" at the end.

Oh, and Frank Leo 'has great hair'. Even Agar and Moore agree on that! Boring old fake Scottish bag 'Fiona' reminds us daily that 'Everyone misses Sarah'. What's wrong with me? I don't miss her at all, when I get to hear her all the time on the GOT-JUNK ads. In fact, I wish her imaginary sailboat would sink off Kyoto, never to be found. All the better if Fiona and those other 2 Spence idiots are on board, as well.
