It used to be called "The Queen's Plate." Now it's the "King's Plate," the biggest horse racing event in Canada.
It also used to be on CTV and TSN.
Not any more.
This year's race to the finish line will be seen exclusively on City TV and Sportsnet.
And there's more.
"The King's Plate is the opening leg of the OLG Canadian Triple Crown.
The second and third legs of the Triple Crown — the Prince of Wales Stakes (run at Fort Erie Race Track on Sept. 10) and the Breeders’ Stakes (Woodbine Racetrack on Sept. 29) — will also air on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+."
I certainly hope we don't get 7 hours (!!) of coverage before the actual 2 minute race itself, as NBC did this year with the Kentucky Derby.
