CFCO-FM Chatham Application

Blackburn has applied to move CFCO from 630 AM to 91.3 FM with 1,250 watts ERP.

https://crtc.gc.ca/eng/archive/2024/2024-148.htm#bm7

This might make it possible for CKWW in Windsor to move from 580 to 630 kHz, and increase power.

Re: CFCO-FM Chatham Application

Why spend money for larger coverage ? 580 has good enough signal. Its CFCO that will loose coverage but pretty sure the advertisers are all local.Music needs to be on FM to survive.

Somewhat ironic about 580 when you consider this previous post from a while ago.

Re: CFCO-FM Chatham Application

Another option is to keep 580 on the air, and make 630 a simulcast of CKWW using the existing towers. 630 sends a better signal into London, Sarnia, and even parts of Metro Detroit than what 580 does.

Re: CFCO-FM Chatham Application

After reading the CFCO application, it looks like they are shutting down the AM towers due to the age and the condition of the AM 630 site. I also read elsewhere that Bell will continue to own the land that CKWW is on. It looks like 630 will simply be dark in the future.
