Well Known CFRB/Canadian Press Radio Voice Dies Way Too Young At 46

If you've ever heard one of the nationwide Canadian Press newscasts that run mainly overnights and on weekends on stations across the country, you've likely heard the name and the voice of Lori Paris. To the shock of many of her colleagues, the veteran newsperson has passed away suddenly - at the unbelievably young age of just 46.

"Paris developed necrotizing fasciitis after she fell while walking her much-loved dog this past week and died on Saturday morning at the Toronto Western Hospital, her sister said.

Word of her death sent shock waves through her workplace, where Paris was universally liked and had earned respect from fellow journalists drawn to her cheerful presence, sarcastic humour and rigorous work ethic."

Paris worked for a while at CFRB, before finding a position at the national news broadcaster. I've talked to someone who worked with her and he said she never had a mean word to say about anyone and did her job like the veteran she was. He was terribly saddened by the stunning news.

Lori Paris, much-loved Canadian Press newscaster and supervisor, dead at 46

a heartfelt post from John Moore.
my condolences to everyone who worked with Lori. 🕯️

Sidebar: I originally posted the above on the post calhame did on the passing of Ms.Paris, until I realized that RadioActive had posted on the sad news before calhame.

There's honestly missing the header however this duplication of the exact same topic is now happening on a regular basis, and it's often a couple of times in a week. In the past when I've duplicated someone else's topic I've asked RA to delete my post. You don't have to do that but I know I'm not the only one who finds this duplication a drag.

Yes, I notice this happens sometimes. But not everyone always sees all the posts as they move down on the list, so I generally choose to leave them both up, in case others hadn't seen the original. So I leave it to those who post here - would you like to see duplicates - even if separated by a day - taken down?

I usually don't because I don't want users to think their contributions are being censored or removed for reasons they may not be able to figure out. I've often pulled down my own stuff when I discover someone has beaten me to the subject. And I don't mind doing that.

The good news is that while it occurs occasionally, I don't think it's all that frequent. So for now, I don't want to discourage people from putting up their thoughts, even if they've already been expressed elsewhere. But please, have your say on this. Even if it duplicates this post!

Sad news for sure. Used to see her byline on some of the hourly "newswatch" scripts on the BN wire... didn't have the opportunity to hear her on the air, though.

You did.  About 3 hours after RA did.  I've seen two posts on the same topic at virtually the same time but this wasn't the case.

Yeah, I know.  First world problems.  There are more important things in life.  It certainly isn't a hanging offence but it can be annoying with it looks like some people can't be bothered to read other posts on the board.

But as for topic at hand, such sad news.  Used to hear her on 1010 back when I was a listener.

Way too young.
