Still a chore to watch the Jays TV play-by-play as Schulman must get paid by the word.

The Jays are hard enough to watch, without the verbal diarrhea. Buck Martinez is excruciating. When are they going to sell advertising space on that colour-guy's forehead?

Is it just me or do others find that, of late, Shulman is over-projecting a lot, to the point that it's grating. I have to turn down the volume to make it tolerable. We know you've got a great voice Dan. You don't need to prove it.

And why does it take as many as five "experts" to comment on a single not very important sports event?
Pretty always middle aged or older guys.
Maybe one token woman occasionally.

Hazel Mae has been there forever. Doesn't she count? If the token females on NHL panels are any indication, they have little or nothing of value to offer, not that most of the males do, either.

Hey, Laffin: Dan is b-a-a-a-c-k

Solution, TV sound down, radio play-by-play on. Problem solved.

I actually didn't mind Ben Shulman filling in for Pops. I feel he is getting stronger and will improve with age.
Besides, most of us "ummed and awwwed" our way to being professional seasoned broadcast vets.
Over time and with coaching he will get better. That being said, it is good to have Danny boy back!

Holy, Hazel has been with Sportsnet since the early days hosting the signature show at 6 and 10 pm. She's married to Jim Barker on the FAN and did a few year stint in the competitive Boston sports media market.
I like the diversity and the women they have added are holding their own big time. My sense though is that Hazel might be growing tired of the gig. I know she is not a big fan of getting drenched by ice and Gatorade, she is damn good at ducking out of harms, err.,.. Vladdy's way.
If you were to program this broadcast, what would you differently?
To close, I am really like Caleb Joseph, he is animated and teaches the viewer/listener about the sport.,

Kevin Barker is married to Hazel. Jim Barker is on the CFL panel on TSN.

I stand corrected. Kevin Barker of Blair and Barker fame.

It appears some posters here aren't alone in their vexing verbiage complaints on sports broadcasts. The names are different but the situation appears to be the same in the U.S., where veteran sportswriter Phil Mushnick laments the non-stop chatter that seems to follow every pitch and every move by those calling the games down south.
Too many broadcasters have too much fluff rather than opting for silence

The endless superfluous TV play-by-play chatter is over the top failing to realize, IT'S TV, there are pictures!
