They're all technicians, as the downsizing at Bell Media seems to go on and on, even after February's 4,800 mega-firings. I wonder if that's what's been plaguing all their newscasts these past few days. Condolences to those on the street. It's not a great place to be right now.
Bell Media to eliminate 43 technician positions

CTV London is a disaster. No news at all on weekends. When you try to catch up on Monday night the program is so screwed up it's unwatchable.

In the spirit of accuracy, February's 4,800 "mega- firings" were almost all at BCE's other divisions not Bell Media. As the Broadcast Dialogue article says, in February Bell Media let 100 people go. One year ago in June 2023 1,300 including many vacancies that they no longer planned to fill. Total layoffs over the past year for Bell Media is 1,443, which is huge. However over the past year they have also been hiring and posting job openings.

I know CTV London has gotten way worse that watch CTV Kitchener for news. I could not watch the webcast the other night because the video would not play after they uploaded the webcast to their site. I emailed the station and no response from the station. But I did once get an automated response back from them saying thanks for contacting CTV London and CTV Windsor.

I saw one of CTV London’s newscasts last week, and I wondered, where’s all the local news? There was maybe one actual locally produced report, with the (very good) reporter Bryan Bicknell, and a couple of local voice-over-video items, but it was otherwise all stories sourced from CTV Toronto and CTV National News. There was local weather of course.
Maybe it was an off day? Or is that really what their newscast is like on a regular basis now? Not the CFPL I remember.

The same thing goes for CTV Barrie (CKVR) what a shame to watch. No news barely, just some corner gas reruns and Seinfeld. I live in Barrie near the station walked by on Beacon Raod one time its like a ghost town at the station.

I must have missed it but I didn't realize 1010 is also moving to Agincourt along with CP/24 and BNN. Ugh.
I wonder how John Moore, (who tells us he lives in the Yonge and St. Clair area), will feel about having to schlep into work at 6 a.m at lovely Agincourt. The last time I had to go there it was a dingy rabbit warren.
Imagine having to get there for early morning or late night in a snowstorm at minus 20. Maybe some people will be allowed to work from home for those occasions.
(Remember how long before the pandemic the Motts were allowed to broadcast from their luxury horse farm?)

Just 1010 on the radio side? What about 1050?
