BOOM 97.3 is playing 157 Canadian Tunes Back to Back to Back Canada Day Weekend. Actually they usually repeat the show twice over the long weekend. Haven't heard any promo for this and normally they ask listeners for requests. I had my doubts if they actually were playing requests since mine never showed up on their list. Africa by Thundermug...where are you??? Guess it made them sound too much like Q107...

Canada day falling on a Monday is an absolute gift for Canadian classic hits stations.

They won't, because they're really good at what they do.

They won't..but they should. Especially since they are a Toronto station. BOOM is good and not only because of the music. They are mostly live and have personalities that actually talk more than three times per hour. To me their music is ok but getting too repetitive. Starship- Nothing's Going To Stop Us Now should be put to bed for a few weeks. Even the number one or two station should be subject to scrutiny, especially from the listener. Always room to improve..and let it start with Thundermug this weekend!!

They absolutely should not, and they know that.
Tuesday to Friday daytime are going to sound amazing.

They most certainly do legitimate audience research, which, surprisingly, does not involve message-board grumps who don't live in the market and aren't in the target demo anyway.

"Message-board grumps who don't live in the market and aren't in the target demo anyway." That was harsh. Maybe somebody needs to have more fun...Thundermug rules..

I can 100% assure you, that Thundermug will not make it on the air. Also, there will be live "personalities" taking calls.

And not to be outdone, ZOOMER Radio 740 has a special Canada Day Edition of Vintage Favourites this weekend.

I listened to much of Vintage Favourites Canada Day edition yesterday. Well done, and held my interest. Particularly enjoyed the segment on the "Toronto Sound" and Red Skelton's 1989 Salute to Canada.
BOOMS 157 Canada Day Marathon today sounds great. Lots of cuts from artists talking about their songs and other performers. Nice little salute to SCTV with some memorable segments from that classic program.

Gene Stevens always does a great job with Vintage Favourites on AM740, his Canada Day show was no exception. I usually get some interesting music related tidbits listening to this program!
I will give AM740 credit that they put an effort into their programming, lots of variety and very little re-rolls.
