A Tale Of Two Talk Shows: Some Odd Timing On 1010 & 640

What a weird meta moment on the city's two AM talk stations Tuesday.

Just after 7 AM, guest morning man John Tory was on CFRB talking to former Det. Mark Mendelsohn about that terrible case of the teenage girls who allegedly swarmed and killed a homeless man, all while taking videos of it.

Meanwhile, in a segment being conducted down the dial, AM640 host Greg Brady was interviewing a Toronto star reporter who is writing a book on this same bizarre crime.

Tory was expressing his worry that something needs to be done about the ever increasing violence in Toronto that seems to skew younger and younger.

At the exact same moment, Brady is quoting "former Mayor Tory" saying he was worried about the ever increasing violence and the frequency of it among Toronto's youth.

So while one is saying it on 1010, another on 640 is quoting his direct competition at almost the exact same time saying the exact same thing.

Sometimes it pays to be an inveterate dial switcher or I would have missed this very odd coincidence on Toronto airwaves.

Toronto deteriorated on every level under Tory.  He isn't qualified to offer opinions or recommendations on any subject.  Now, the city has Chow, who is even worse.  Here's hoping Anthony Furey can clean up some of the mess.
