1010 should grab him for the afternoon drive.
Carter would be an improvement over any of their hosts, except Vassy, who is required listening.

Corus VP of HR Cheryl Fullerton is also out... she is being replaced by a "lawyer"... actually, just a reassignment of her role to an existing VP.
The newly appointed 5 Star Generals are currently hunkered down in the Corus War Room, where they are crafting their strategic plan going forward. The Generals will be addressing the troops later this afternoon...
It was a busy weekend in the Corus boardroom for Heather Shaw ...

They will probably only get a year or two to turn things around before they themselves are conveniently herded into "early retirement" if things don't improve.
With Alan Carter gone, I wonder what the fate of Focus Ontario will be? Carter was the political junkie that seemed to drive the show, perhaps Colin DiMello will take over since I can't see Corus wanting to rid themselves of a cheap to produce political clip show that reuses segments from earlier in the week's news, and fulfills Can Con requirements.

It is un-turnaroundable.
A national broadcast-only company in Canada cannot survive against Bell & Rogers.
NHL, HBO, and now the marquee non-sports specialty channels. CORUS isn't even in the conversation.
And, no, they can't scale down and carve out a third-place niche; they have the same infrastructure and regulatory costs as the big guys.
Online!
If I were working for Corus, I'd be concerned about my paycheque bouncing.

A fire sale on the horizon? Maybe Rogers et al is waiting for the value of these assets to go down before they come swooping in.

Maybe Super Channel should merge with Corus?
It forces strong(er) presence of Super Channel's content/channels.

Well, it appears Bay St. did not take the promotions as good news.
Corus stock fell on the TSX Monday to its lowest price ever - just 17 cents a share.
The vultures are circling.
Closing Bell: Corus Entertainment Inc down on Monday

About time some executives took a hit by getting fired. Why is it always the journalist's fault you can't make money??? Or if the news presentation, work, whatever sucks, why not fire the News Director?? They are probably making more than a journalist.

Watching the current Global News presentations, there a other individuals that should have got the axe before Alan Carter. Unless it's all about money and not about talent, and that's a shame!

In my experience, it's almost ALWAYS about money.

Broadcast Dialogue confirms a few more well known names caught in the layoffs. In addition to Alan Carter and Farah Nasser, you'll no longer see contributions from Ottawa-based Abigail Bimman and national reporter Mike Drolet.

Well crap, I've always enjoyed Mike Drolet's reporting. Great voice too. I hope he lands at another station fairly soon.
