Canadian SiriusXM Subs May Be Part Of Class Action Lawsuit

It's not certified yet and it may not even happen. But there's a possibility if you're a SiriusXM subscriber in certain parts of the country (including Ontario) you could be eligible to share in a class action lawsuit settlement.

It centres around allegations the company didn't inform its customers they'd have to pay a hidden royalty fee.

Class action suits can take a long time to arrive at a settlement and even then, you won't exactly make out like a bandit. I signed up for a class action settlement after LifeLabs' client list was hacked. After months of silence, a few weeks ago I finally received my money, which the firm involved promised might be as high as 50 bucks. (Hardly a windfall, but hey, 50 bucks is 50 bucks!)

Instead, I received a cheque (first time I'd dealt with an actual cheque in years) for the princely sum of $5.86! I was almost too embarrassed to cash it, except the teller at the bank told me she'd seen worse - someone had come in that week with a cheque for 30 cents!
