I have noticed over the past six months or so that CTV, CTV2 and CHCH seem to be showing more theatrical movies than before. In many cases in prime time. Now part of this is still some after effects from the Hollywood strikes, and the Canadian stations aren't showing as many of the game shows scheduled on US network TV.
Tonight there is a nice counter programming move from CTV against NHL Hockey. CTV is showing the excellent Elvis film which hit the theatres not even two years ago. Austin Butler as Elvis and Tom Hanks as Colonel Tom Parker were outstanding.

Global is showing "Yesterday," the movie about a guy who wakes up in a world where there never was a group called The Beatles and claims credit for their music. It airs Sunday night at 8 PM.
