A Real Rarity: Toronto Radio Station Touts Its Own HD Channel

Now here's something you don't see everyday - a Toronto station actively promoting its own HD feed. This one comes from AM740, which has a fairly weak repeater signal on normal FM and wants it listeners to know they may have a better way to get the station when they're driving.

The sound quality is (far) superior to the AM signal. But, in my car, it's not like switching between stations and the signal is there. When switching to 96.3 HD2 it's "acquiring" and then signal. And sometimes, it doesn't "acquire" or when I start the car, it defaults to 96.3 HD1, which sometimes is AM740 and sometimes Classical 96, as if the radio is on HD1 or thinks it's on HD1, but is actually on HD2.

The HD2 signal is lousy! Sounds like its in a tin can with echoing!
HD1 (Classical) much better.
I brought this to  their attention (complained) before but then got no responses.

Re: A Real Rarity: Toronto Radio Station Touts Its Own HD Channel

I’ve told a few staffers there that I constantly listen to Zoomer Radio on 96.3 HD2.    I told them they never advertise the HD frequency.    I actually haven’t had the station on in the past two days as my SUV was in for a free detailing.     Are they advertising the HD signal finally?    HD is the future of all stations in the future.
