The days of over-the-air TV networks showing Hollywood movies is mostly over, but every now and then, one of the Big 4 will surprise you. Enter ABC, which is making a big deal of acquiring rights to a premiere movie that's never aired on free television (I believe it may have been shown on Amazon Prime.)
It's a flick starring Ben Affleck and Matt Damon called "Air," and it's the story of how a running shoe company spotted a special and talented athlete and cashed in before he was even a superstar - in this case, how Nike raced to sign a virtually unknown Michael Jordan to make his "Air" sneakers before anyone even really knew who he was.
Not sure if this is my cup of tea, but the trailer is certainly interesting. If this is something you want to see, you can watch "Air" on, well, air on ABC June 11th.

I would watch this movie. The trailer is well done. The only issue is that I noticed that the movie is rated R. Big problem because ABC will need to edit the hell out of the movie since US OTA TV is supressed by out of date FCC rules regarding language, adult situations etc.
A Canadian network could run it unedited but then there would be no simsub if they decided to run it at the same time as ABC.
I remember NBC ran the excellent Mississippi Burning back in the early 90's and the movie was ruined by all of the editing that was required for language and some scenes that they didn't show. City tv ran the movie at the same time but not simsubed. City's version was about 10 minutes longer with no editing of scenes or language.

Or they could do what they did with "Snakes On A Plane" and have special scenes reshot with allowed words just for broadcast TV. That resulted in this notorious 15 sec. clip that's still hilarious today.
Online!
This reminds me of the time I saw "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri" while in the U.S. back in 2019. It's a crime film starring Frances McDormand and Woody Harrelson. The opening scene features a mother arguing with her daughter and son and the censored, redubbed dialogue was as follows:
Daughter: I hate you!
Mom: I hate you too!
Daughter: You're a cook!
Mom: No, you're a cook!
Son: Both of you are a pair of cooks!
Now whenever my wife and I have a disagreement, one of us can usually defuse the situation by shouting "You're a cook!", which never fails to make us both laugh.

This "Air" trailer is a hoax, right? It's an Internet prank, right?
A movie about a shoe.
OK, I'm waiting for the epic blockbuster about the invention of the slinky.

I think it's more the story of how a savvy businessman spotted the nascent talent of Michael Jordan before he became the player he was and the place his mother had in her son's ultimate success.
And the Slinky has a great backstory. It was developed by a Naval researcher looking for a way to keep equipment secure on ships as they tossed about in the water. When the thing accidentally fell, a different kind of legend was born. It's actually a pretty interesting story - although perhaps not worthy of a full length movie!

With a tip of the hat to Krusky the clown, I think a better title to the movie, "Air" would have been "Mad About Shoe."

Air is on Prime right now.

Yes it's an Amazon production, which is why I was surprised it will appear on ABC. Usually movies produced for a streaming service or with one stays on that service.
Not sure if you watched it, but if you did, was it any good?

Given my lack of interest in sports, I haven't watched.

Yes .. "Air" is quite good .. Jordan's mama was one smart, shrewd cookie : )) ..

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll set my DVR to watch it. Reading about the story, I kind of figured the mom would be the big hero and play a central part in the story.

I thought it was good too. But then I'm partial to docudramas.
