I've noticed this before and they did it again on Sunday. I just can't figure out why.
On Sunday morning, 680 News played a pre-packaged taped recap about the Leafs-Sabres game outcome, complete with a clip of Joe Bowen calling Auston Matthews' 60th goal. This was not part of the sportscast at :15 after the hour, but rather within the newscast itself.
For some reason I can't fathom, every time they do this, there's a bed of music underneath. It doesn't need to be there, it's barely audible and yet it's part of the story. I find it distracting and completely irrelevant. But it's almost always present.
Has anyone else noticed this and can explain why they do this on their pre-recorded sports voiceovers? It adds nothing to the story and is kind of distracting.
