Call it an early warning. On April 8th – the same day as the eclipse – there’s another “star” attraction some here may want to see. It’s called “Elton John & Bernie Taupin: The Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song” and it’s a tribute to the duo who together have composed some of rock and roll’s greatest hits.
It’s coming to WNED (with the usual pledge breaks no doubt, so DVR-ing is a must.) Here’s how the show is described by PBS:
“The incomparable, trail-blazing talents of songwriting duo Elton John and Bernie Taupin are celebrated in Washington, DC's historic DAR Constitution Hall during an all-star tribute concert. Hosted by Billy Porter, the lineup includes artists spanning the generations that followed in Elton's and Bernie's footsteps, including Joni Mitchell, Garth Brooks, Brandi Carlile, Annie Lennox, Metallica, Maren Morris, Charlie Puth and Jacob Lusk of Gabriels, culminating with a showstopping performance from Elton John.”
Metallica saluting Elton John? That’s worth the price of admission right there!
This airs twice. Once on April 8th in primetime from 8-10 PM and again on April 10th at 3 AM, both on Channel 17. Perhaps he’ll sing your favourite song. Or "Your Song," if it’s a favourite!

Many thanks for this RA.

Great program and lineup. Billy Porter's sense of style is so so creative and out there it'll be interesting just to see what he'll be wearing.
And how nice we've learned to appreciate legendary artists while they're still with us.
Cannot wait to see Metallica.

Thank you RA! For those of us who get PBS via Detroit Public TV (WTVS), that station will be airing the show at 9pm on the 8th.
