Is it just me, or is every NHL game I watch these days carrying fake crowd noise.
I know this all started in the Covid era when games were playing in empty arenas but recently this has become more than prevalent.
I can hear the "natural" sound during quieter moments but when things get exciting the canned stuff gets added.
What's the point? Do they think we can't hear the difference???
Sheesh!!!

You’re hearing is more than likely heavy compression. When there’s no announcer talking the area noise fills the space. Nothing is being added. Some channels have it and some don’t.
It may also be your TV.
I think it’s extremely unlikely the NHL or its rights holders are adding fake crowd noise.

This, and the very fact that showing the crowd is never a problem.
Go to a game and see what it's like to actually be there. Can't fake those crowd sounds...
