There have been all kinds of father-son relationships in Major League Baseball history including players (Cal Ripken Sr. and Cal Ripken Jr., Vladimir Guerrero and his Jays' younger counterpart) and broadcast booth (Harry and Skip Caray, the former a Chicago legend and of course, our own Dan and Ben Shulman, each calling Jays' games on a regular basis this year.)
But I'm honestly not sure if this has happened before: a father on the air broadcasting a game as his son takes the field for two innings. It happened in the last twilight minutes of spring training, when former Los Angeles Dodger Eric Karros was calling a game in the broadcast booth, as his son Jared came in to provide relief in the closing moments of the contest.
I'm not entirely sure how much Karros Sr. was allowed to say during the event, because he was certainly not going to be very objective. But when his kid threw two scoreless innings of relief, he stood up in the booth and gave him a standing ovation.
A pretty incredible and rare moment in the annals of baseball history.

Speaking of MLB milestones, the legendary Bob Uecker will officially call the home opening game for the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday, continuing a tradition that goes back more than five decades. But the rest of the season is less certain. Uecker is an incredible 90 years old and still at it.
We should all be so lucky.
