Chuck Barris

Chuck Barris has died at the age of 87.

Barris wrote"Palisades Park" in 1962 for Freddie Cannon.

His production company also produced/packaged the popular game shows "The Dating Game" and "The Newlywed Game" for ABC.  Barris also produced and hosted "The Gong Show" on NBC in the 70s.

Re: Chuck Barris

The AP obit on his passing contains one error:

"Barris would strike an oversize gong, the show's equivalent of vaudeville's hook. The victims would then be mercilessly berated by the manic Barris, with a hat often yanked down over his eyes and ears, and a crew of second-tier celebrities."

Barris never or rarely rang the gong. The second-tier celebs. did.

As for his writing Palisades Park - it's interesting to note that he died in Palisades, New York. Strange symmetry.

Re: Chuck Barris

R.I.P. Mr. Barris...

Can someone please post the Gong Show video appearance by the "Popsicle Twins"?

After watching Chuck Berry's sex tapes I need to freshen up a bit...

Thanks...

We take requests...although you'll have to play it on YouTube's site for some unknown reason. No relation to the Unknown Comic.

Re: Chuck Barris

Thanks for that RA...I remember those girls...

Ahhhhhhh...that so brings back memories of a somewhat misspent youth....

Ahhhhhhh....

And just so everyone is clear...when you click on the  "play" button you will see an underlined notation that will say..."Watch this video on YouTube"...Simply click on that "notation" and the video comes right up....

I'm going back for another look....

Thanks again RA...

Re: Chuck Barris

Interesting that Chuck Berry and Chuck Barris died at almost the same time. I remember an episode of WKRP where Dr. Johnny Fever read a stat that (paraphrasing) 60% of Americans think Chuck Berry is the host of "The Gong Show".

Well...isn't Barris how the French spell Berry?
