I have to admit I read this story with some incredulity. The new President of Bell Media, a guy named Sean Cohan, is vowing that the company is planning on spending money on new services, improving existing ones, and using its legacy brands for even more programming.
Of course these pie-in-the-sky promises all presume that he'll actually be allowed to spend big bucks on anything, with a penny-pinching parent company BCE squeezing every nickel out of every dollar and firing up to 6,000 people in the last two years.
One potentially interesting promise that doesn't get a lot of attention in the article linked below comes from the world of streaming. Right now, Bell's Crave is the main dish on its digitized menu. But Cohan insists they're working on more streaming offerings, including several free commercial supported services. Although he didn't say what those might be or when they might hit the Internet.

We are going to see more of this. The cheapest ad supported tiers of streaming services are more profitable than the most expensive commercial-free tiers.
