Pink Floyd or Supertramp?

Two iconic British rock bands, both were initially categorized as progressive in their formats.

Which was your favourite group?

(I liked both, but leaned more to Supertramp)...

Re: Pink Floyd or Supertramp?

I bought Saucer Full Of Secrets mistakenly believing it had on it 21st Century Schizoid Man, because I forgot the song was actually by King Crimson. Loved the album.

Bought The Dark Side of the Moon, not because it was 'the thing to do', but because I liked what I heard on PROG Rock FM radio.

I bought Breakfast In America because it was 'the thing to do' and VERY quickly tired of it.

Let me throw into the mix my favourite - Emerson, Lake, and Palmer. Bought most all their albums, replaced most with the CD versions, and still listen to them quite often. RIP - Keith and Greg!

Re: Pink Floyd or Supertramp?

Weighing in on the topic have to go with Supertramp.  Found all of their albums-tapes-CD's (yes I bought them all) to be great.  On a personal note, found Pink Floyd just a little "too out there" for my taste.
Now to bring this around to the topic of radio.   Why on earth would a station program a Pink Floyd cut at 9:15 am as I heard on the Borus station in Carrie this morning.  And I have heard this a number of times before.   My belief is that no cut from Dark Side of the Moon should air before about 8 pm.  Just does not fit into a morning radio format of any kind.    Your thoughts ???

What?  Tony Orlando and Dawn isn't an option!

- Not an industry person.  Just a guy with a love of Toronto radio.

Really?  Thinking music.  Art.  A "fatty"?  I'd hate to ask about your thoughts on the lyrics contributed by Bob Marley.

Pink Floyd.  Hands down.  [and Supertramp was great]

Geez, old fella, just kidding around a little.  Ever heard of 'Stoner' music?  CHUM-FM built their name on it back in the day.  Wow.  Okay, in my totally sober and straight opinion, Pink Floyd.  Never cared for Bob Marley.  Hope that doesn't freak you out, man.

Children!!!  Top 40-ites!!!  You can't even quote me a Bob Marley lyric...other than "one love...let's get together and feel alright"...so  that is neither here nor there.

And Maybo!!!   Et tu Brute?  David Gilmour is STILL gettin' 'er done.  Roger Hodgson is a solo artist and has been for close to forever ['83] and Rick Davies is close to dead-sick [plasma cell cancer] so they aren't even in the game and haven't been since Eric Carmen was vital.

Re: Pink Floyd or Supertramp?

Breakfast in America killed Supertramp for me tho it was a huge album.  Once I got past Meddle side 2, I was great with Floyd.
