Jon Stewart is back as host of the Daily Show-on Monday's only

Oh yeah, political life in the U.S. is going to get fun, think of a roller coaster ride at Wonderland. Up, then down, your heart racing, then a curvy ride, worming your way through, until the election is complete.

That is why Jon Stewart is back and it is from now until the elections are over. It will be interesting to see how this return to the show impacts ratings.

I for one, want to see a wrestlin' match between Stewart and Maher...with a tag team of Carlson and Colbert.

All kidding aside, here is more about Stewart's return.

This leads to another question. CTV recently dropped the show, which followed its late night newscast at 12:05 AM. Will this cause them to consider restoring it there? Do they still own the rights? That decision is still to come.

Re: Jon Stewart is back as host of the Daily Show-on Monday's only

CTV dropped the Daily Show in October last year.  This was a year after Trevor Noah stepped down as host.  I wonder if the ratings over the year took a tumble with having no permanent host.  And does CTV even care about ratings at 12:05 midnight?

This is good news getting Jon Stewart to host at least on Monday. That would be a nice lead in for Seth Meyers at 12:35 who has a similar humour.  Don't know if that would be enough to bring the show back to CTV.  When in doubt, just run a repeat of Big Bang Theory.

CTV Comedy, formerly the Comedy Network had deal with Comedy Central for a number of years that gave them access to all Comedy Central content and saw the Comedy Central websites redirect to the Comedy Network in Canada. That deal must have expired because now CTV Comedy just plays reruns of old sitcoms the majority of the time.

And the answer is: no, CTV has lost the rights to the show. It remains with Paramount+.

Jon Stewart is coming back to The Daily Show, but it’s not coming back to CTV

For context, Paramount + and Comedy Central are both owned by Paramount Global, so the company is prioritizing its subscriber growth in Canada over whatever revenue they were getting from BellMedia.

For those who couldn't see Stewart's return (since it's no longer on CTV), here's a large chunk of what you missed from his first show back.
