Supriya Dwivedi had a controversial tenure at AM640, at one point co-hosting the morning show with Mike Stafford. She certainly did her share of chatting about the federal government but now she's actually going to have a chance to influence it.
The ex-radio and TV commentator and columnist has been hired as a "senior advisor" in Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's office, and "will put professional experiences, including a science and legal background, to work for the PMO."
It's not the first prominent Toronto ex-broadcaster working for the federal Liberals. Former City TV reporter Ben Chin has been a senior advisor for this government since 2019.

As she herself said in her last Toronto Star column, her decision was driven by the reaction to the deaths of two people who were close to her in the past year:
"As a journalist and pundit I’ve criticized the government, but when I ask myself what kind of a country we want to be and how we want to approach the problems we face, I know I want a prime minister who doesn’t prey on people’s anger. Anger can be cancerous and consume every part of your being if you let it. I couldn’t do anything to stave off the metastatic cancer that took Anoop, but I’ll do whatever I can to help ensure metastatic anger doesn’t take over our country."

Good for Supriya. She is far too young to have lived what she has lived. Good to see her bounce back, I wish her every success.
