Rogers will be the broadcaster for the PWHL

This announcement was made about 45 minutes ago. Seems like Rogers is dominating the hockey market as they will be the broadcaster of record for the PWHL.

Here is the media release.

I just wonder if the PWHL has a goalie they can lend the Leafs!!! Looks like we need one to cover for Samsonov.

The world would be so good if it weren't for some people...

Re: Rogers will be the broadcaster for the PWHL

Nope. They’re the official telecommunications partner.
The games are spread across CBC, TSN and Sportsnet and/or their streaming services, with the first game on Saturday getting national coverage on all three at the same time.
They also have regional deals with MSG, NESN, and a Pittsburgh sports channel with a rumoured deal with either CBS Sports or ESPN streaming services. All games will be on YouTube outside of Canada.

From the News release:

"Fans can watch the first game of the PWHL season, New York vs. Toronto on Monday, Jan. 1 at 12:30 p.m. ET / 9:30 a.m. PT on Sportsnet ONE and live streaming on Sportsnet+."

"Rogers will be featured prominently on the team’s helmets and through in-arena signage and promotions."
If TSN is one choice covering the (first) game, they're gonna have to tolerate anything Rogers present on screen.

From the league’s press release Thursday announcing the TV deals:

2024 PWHL BROADCAST SCHEDULE SUMMARY:

PWHL season opener will be available to Canadian viewers live on CBC, TSN, and Sportsnet national television feeds, streamed on CBC Gem, ca, the CBC Sports app for iOS and Android devices, TSN.ca, the TSN app, and Sportsnet+. French-language coverage will appear on ICI TOU.TV.
PWHL season opener is available to United States regional TV viewers with MSG Networks and NESN.
All subsequent PWHL regular-season games are available to Canadian viewers on coverage divided across TSN, CBC, and Sportsnet which includes linear television and streaming on TSN+, CBC Gem, ca, the CBC Sports app, and Sportsnet+. Additional games will be announced pending NHL and AHL playoff schedules.

It’s interesting that no Sportsnet on air personnel appear to be involved in the opening day broadcast. It’s people from CBC, TSN and the Athletic.
-
The first-ever PWHL game will feature a best-in-class broadcast team led by CBC Sports host Andi Petrillo. She will be joined in-studio by Hailey Salvian of The Athletic, former pro hockey player Saroya Tinker, and TSN reporter and Olympic gold medalist Tessa Bonhomme. Daniella Ponticelli and two-time Olympic gold medalist, TSN’s Cheryl Pounder, will provide commentary and analysis. CBC Sports’ Anastasia Bucsis will be rinkside for exclusive interviews and updates.
