Leaving for a job with some Women's hockey league that no one watches?

Re: Cassie Campbell-Pascal is leaving Sportsnet

It hasn’t even played its first non-exhibition game, so I guess your statement is true in the same way the NFL has a zero TV rating in April.
Several opening day games have sold out and two teams are considering adding more seats or considering bigger venues based on the demand they’re seeing.
Would you rather listen to the radio or run a radio station?
Elite athletes like to be as connected to the competition as possible. Sitting in TV studios commenting on the men’s game isn’t the same as helping to build something from the ground up for future generations of women and being close to the action. I suspect that’s why she’s leaving. She was a competitor at the highest level and that itch needs to be scratched.

Re: Cassie Campbell-Pascal is leaving Sportsnet

Two previous leagues have failed. This new one has no TV deal. The buzz will be gone by March.

They have a deal with TSN/RDS with some games airing on CBC

Thank you. People really need to stop presenting completely false information as fact here. It’s becoming an epidemic on this board. If you don’t know, use Google to find out. Stop pretending to know if you don’t.

So, to fact check:
No one is watching.
They haven’t played any regular season games. The regular season games are selling well.

They don’t have a TV deal.
They have two.

Other leagues have failed.
There were two leagues with the best players spread across both, diluting the product of both.

Other than getting every fact wrong that was very informative.

This league will fail like the rest. When April comes with the NHL playoffs and the return of baseball, this league will be ignored. The sports market has reached the saturation point.

Re: Cassie Campbell-Pascal is leaving Sportsnet

They said that about soccer, too.

Gen-Z is going to flip the script on a lot of norms.

Not arguing that this league will be a success, but counting on the status-quo is a fool's errand.

You were wrong on everything else you wrote so don’t mind me if I completely ignore your take that is based nothing factual whatsoever.
It might fail, but up till now they have done everything correctly. There’s money behind it, good ticket sales, all of the top level talent, a streaming deal and two TV deals.
