There have been a lot of names associated with network TV success over the decades - Fred Silverman, Aaron Spelling and even Shonda Rhimes. But I can't remember one anywhere near as successful as Dick Wolf. He controls three nights of television - not hours, nights.
There's the triple FBIs on CBS Tuesdays. The Chicago shows on Wednesdays over on NBC and then three more hours of Law & Order and spinoffs on Thursday. (I had no idea until reading the linked article just how many L&O spinoffs have actually been on TV over the years. I'd frankly forgotten some of them.)
Even if you hate any or all of those shows, that's mighty impressive. Which may be why NBC released a puff piece on Wolf Monday, digging into his background and how he came to be such a production powerhouse.
And it all started after he got tired of being an ad man writing slogans for Crest toothpaste.
