It was a pledge week special that originally aired more than a decade ago, saluting the Sound of Philadelphia made famous by Gamble & Huff. This long unseen 2008 concert is packed with stars from that TSOP era, and hits almost everyone here knows.
"[They] include "TSOP" (TSOP Orchestra with The Three Degrees), "The Love I Lost" (Harold Melvin's Blue Notes), "Expressway to Your Heart" (Soul Survivors), "I'm Stone In Love With You" (Russell Thompkins Jr. & The New Stylistics), "I Love Music" (The O'Jays), "Rubberband Man" (G.C. Cameron), "Me & Mrs. Jones" (Bunny Sigler), "Used To Be My Girl" (The O'Jays), "Wake Up Everybody" (Harold Melvin's Blue Notes), "Ain't No Stopping Us Now" (Bunny Sigler, Jean Carne, The Three Degrees), "Never Gonna Give You Up" (Jerry Butler), "La La Means I Love You" (The Delfonics) and "People Get Ready / Love Train" (The O'Jays )."
But if you want to see it, you'll likely have to record it. The 90 minute concert is airing early Monday morning (Nov. 27th) at 3 AM, with additional showings on Dec. 1st at 1:30 AM and on Dec 3rd at the more reasonable hour of 5 PM.
If this was part of your era, it may be worth a look.
