The final episode of Jodi Whittaker as the long running Doctor Who aired in most of the world Sunday night, with the main character undergoing a "regeneration," always a big deal for fans of the show.
But whatever happens next, you won't see it on BBC Canada, CTV SciFi here or BBC America in the U.S. The new series featuring a new actor in the role, will only be seen on Disney+, as the streaming service picked up exclusive rights to the show outside of the U.K.
It's bad news for fans of the decades-old hit who don't subscribe to the service, despite those behind the deal insisting that it's good for everyone.

It's $7/mo to add CTV SciFi to your cable package if it's not included. Disney+ is $11.99/mo. Given how many people don't have cable in the first place, the price difference seems, on average, to be a wash.

This mini-Dr. Who moment may be of interest to fans of the show, even if they're not Disney+ subscribers.
It purports to tell the story of the very birth of the Dialeks, the Doctor's most fierce and longest running enemy. It features David Tennant in his return to the role, and the reason it's free is that it aired on the BBC as part of a children's charity this weekend.
(If you know the show, you may be surprised by the altered appearance of uber-villain Davros, with producer Russell T. Davies saying it's deliberate, because they no longer wanted him disfigured and in a wheelchair, so as not to cast aspersions on those who use those mobility devices.)
Anyway, if you're fan, it's a great 5 minutes.
The new episodes return November 25th, free in the U.K., but sadly only on Disney+ in North America.

Songs based on the hugely popular Dr. Who made the British Top 40 on a number of occasions over the years, none to great effect to these ears. But up until I saw this, I never dreamed stuff like this even existed.
They're all pretty horrible but how can you not listen to the Go-Go's (not the all-female group the world later came to know) doing "I'm Gonna Spend My Christmas With A Dalek?"
Listen if you dare, but just know in advance you can never unhear these. Not even if you go back in time in the Tardis.

This has likely been brought up before but the first Dr. Who ran on the BBC November 23 1963. The show actually ran 80 seconds later than scheduled since the BBC had a short update on the assassination of President Kennedy. So the BBC didn't have wall to wall coverage similar to here.
