The long awaited announcement out of Ottawa gives some tax relief to battered newsrooms. But you can be sure all broadcasters and newspapers will say it's not enough because, well, enough is never enough.
"The federal government extended the amount news groups can claim back in tax per journalist they employ, and increased the cap on eligible salaries from $55,000 to $85,000, allowing employers to claim back more newsroom labour costs."

The announcement also included this, per the Canadian Press:
"The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission will conduct a prompt investigation of international mobile roaming charges, and will provide an update and concrete next steps in 2024."
Prompt? I don't believe that's in any government's lexicon. Also, it's not an order to reduce fees - just a study. I doubt it will ever come to anything, but for what it's worth, they say they're going to do it.
