Travis Dhanraj, who's worked at CP24, CTV and Global, and is now at the CBC, will be assuming a new role at the national broadcaster - the permanent host of Canada Tonight on its News Network. It airs from 7-9 PM. He starts his new gig in January.
Meanwhile, another familiar name is an old face in a new place. Former City TV and Global reporter/anchor Marianne Dimain has found a new job less than a month after her departure from Global. She'll be the fulltime morning host on CBC News Network's weekend shift, as well as reporting for Morning Live during the week. She starts her new role on Saturday.
CBC Switches Dhanraj, Adds Dimain

Global ran an episode of "The New Reality" on Saturday night, after Global National. Its first feature was a piece done by Marianne Dimain. Only problem is she left the network and starts on the CBC Monday.
Maybe not the best choice for the show when your correspondent has departed for a competing network.

Does the average viewer even know or care when a reporter switches networks?

Maybe not. But they did give her a very public goodbye on her last morning show and she starts on the competition on Monday. I just find it odd that they would have shown this given she now represents another news organization. It would be like CTV's W5 running a previous story from Colin D'Mello even as he now holds a prominent position with Global.
Maybe it's just my old school radio training, but you're promoting or giving added exposure to someone who is about to go against you. Why would you want to do that?

The New Reality is ending this year, and resources are thin, so maybe they can't be bothered to replace the story that Marianne Dimain with something else.
