Sometimes you think radio and TV gets ignored on radio and TV. But that's not always the case. I was amazed looking over this list how many movies and shows over the years have taken place in either a newspaper or a TV or radio station.
WKRP and The Mary Tyler Moore Show are classics, of course. But do you remember KBHR AM 570 from Northern Exposure? I used to watch the show and had forgotten about it (and Chris in the Morning.) Sports Night, one of the best too-short-lived series ever, also took place at a national sports cable network. And Murphy Brown and crew worked at the unnamed network show "FYI" during the series long run.
I'm not sure there's such an interest in these old media outlets anymore. Perhaps the next big hit will be at a social media site. But here's a list from shows you may - or may not - remember.
The Best Fictional Media Outlets Of All Time

I don't think they were trying very hard to compile this list since they excluded WNYX (from NewsRadio).

Not to mention (which they didn't) KRML, the station Dave Garver (aka Clint Eastwood) worked at in "Play Misty For Me."
And how could they leave out KACL Seattle, the fictional radio outlet that once employed Fraser ("I'm listening") Crane?
