If you had one of those ubiqutous devices, made in Waterloo, you may be interested in the movie "Blackberry" divided into a TV series that starts this Thursday on CBC-TV.
I admit I don't watch a lot on the network, but every now and then something comes along that sounds like a worthwhile series. "Blackberry" may be one of those. It stars Canuck Jay Baruchel and tells the story behind the famous Canadian-developed phone, the intrigue behind it and how it went from huge penetration in the market to being shut down, much to the dismay of avid users.
It was released as a fairly well received feature film last May, and was made with a three-part TV series also in mind, taken from the movie. Additional never-before-seen footage will pad the two hour flick into the three hour series. Part one debuts at 9 PM Thursday, with the additional two the following weeks, or you can watch the entire series that night on CBC Gem.

One note - Blackberry's still around. They don't make phones and are decidedly far from their prime, but they sit on IP that's still a commodity.

Fair enough, but I was referring to the iconic phone, that so many still miss to this day.
