Broadcast Dialogue is filled with a series of changes to local TV newscasts in the GTHA. Among them:
-Tracy Tong is now the official co-anchor along with Alan Carter on Global's 5:30 and 6 PM weekday newscasts, while still retaining the 11 PM show by herself.
-Kamil Karamali, who's been with Global for several years, mostly in B.C., is now the national correspondent for CTV News, based in Toronto. In a post on Twitter/X, he calls it "a dream come true."
-And there are some musical chairs going on at CHCH, where anchor Taz Boga has left the 11 PM anchor desk, and will concentrate solely on the 6 o'clock news instead. (Here's her brief on-air announcement.) What's odd is who is replacing her. A trio of rotating news readers - Emily Tayler, Manessa Dhanabalan and Jason Gaidola - will all take turns doing the late show. A strange arrangement, especially considering a familiar regular anchor is usually the best way to promote a nightly newscast. The changes are effective immediately.

Referring to CHCH: So it's live at 11 now? It had been pre-taped for several years now, only with Bubba O'Neil updating sports at 11pm, and introducing any breaking news that happened after 6pm.

Referring to CHCH: I wonder if Laverne McGee wants in on this. She co-anchored with Dan McLean back in the day. She's back now as a reporter, after having been an anchor at the Black News Channel, which went bankrupt last year.

Taz Boga has elderly parents. Maybe they need looking after. That might be why she requested some relief on the scheduled work hours. And I like the idea of giving youngsters an aspirational role in any company .. it's an excellent means of determining merit and acceptability (or perhaps popularity in this business).
