CNN Airs Clip Of Very First Broadcast As Network Bids Adieu To Atlanta
They're moving the famed "CNN Center" editorial and control rooms in Atlanta to another location and showed a brief look at the first moments of the network back in 1980. What a different media world we have now than when what critics disparagingly called "Chicken Noodle News" began. It wasn't until the Gulf War that people really started to take CNN seriously.

CNN actually moved into that building, originally known as the Omni International complex in 1987, and the clip in that video is most likely from 1987 if it’s from when they began broadcasting from that building. They had broadcast from a former country club from their launch until moving to Omni International. I think the article has it wrong.
I’ve seen their first broadcast in 1980 numerous times and it looked nothing like this.

CNN HN anchor Brian Christie had a few behind the scenes videos of activities at Headline News leading up to the move to the Omni Center in downtown Atlanta. They were posted at one point on YouTube, but I'm not sure they are still there.
If I recall, I think he was the last on air presenter for HN at the former Country Club facility, before the move.

Last HN broadcast from Techwood, and first from CNN Center July 1987
