I have to admit I'm scratching my head as I inadvertently came across this story on a site call "The U.S. Sun," a publication that is actually based in the U.K. The headline reads "Breakfast Television’s Meredith Shaw abruptly goes missing on show as Sid Seixeiro tells her replacement to ‘shut up.’ "
OK, so Shaw is off the show for one day, and Seixeiro has made it clear she'll be back on Monday. People take time off all the time. Where's the story here? Also, why is a British tabloid even doing this story? I have to presume none of their audience has any idea what "BT" is all about or who Meredith Shaw is, and they would have no interest in a Toronto morning show they've likely never seen.
Again, why is this even a story? Can't say I've ever seen anything so odd on a British site before.

Looks like this U.S. version of the Sun has been covering BT for a while now. They seem to specialize in the British style of gossip regarding morning and evening TV talk shows and game shows. Also the usual rumours about Britney Spears, Kelly Ripa, the Kardashians etc. The British Sun seems to focus on Sid a lot and his supposed dealings with other on air people at BT. Interesting how Breakfast Television gets a lot more publicity and coverage from a large UK media company than any media here.

I find it odd, because few in the U.K. could possibly have seen BT or ever watched it. I'm betting most over there have never even heard of it.
Tabloid or not (and they definitely are) why are they covering this? It would be like the Toronto Sun doing an article focusing on the personalities on ITV's "Good Morning Britain." Would anyone here know who they are - or even care?
But you're right - they do seem to have done stories on BT before, focusing on Sid. Why is beyond me.

It's just clickbait.

Well maybe. But why would a Brit click on an article about someone they never heard of? It just seems weird to me. Unimportant, but weird.

It’s not meant to be clicked on by Brits, specifically. It’s meant to fe found though search and social media, by anyone, anywhere.

Perhaps you're right. I found it. But I would never have looked at it if it weren't for the familiar names and show.

Sure. It's kinda niche, but it doesn't matter.
Some freelance writer bangs out some crap while they're watching TV, hits 'send' and get paid by the click. It's not journalism. Just cheap crap that makes everyone involved a tiny amount of money that adds up the more crap they push out. Might as well be a cat video.

This site appears to have it in for Sid Seixeiro for some reason, adding another completely pointless story. "Dramatic fight?" Hardly. This seems like a gross exaggeration, giving more weight to RadioAaron's interpretation of what's going on.
Tempest meet teapot.
Breakfast Television’s Sid Seixeiro admits angry caller ‘hung up’ on him after they got into ‘dramatic fight’ on live TV
By the way, I looked up the author of this and the other story, one "Ekin Karasin." Her experience is totally in the U.K. and Australia and seems to have no connection whatsoever with Canada. How she's even able to watch BT where's she's based isn't clear.
