It's amazing what you sometimes learn just by listening to the radio. Kelly Cutrara had Global meteorologist Ross Hull on her show Friday, talking about the weekend forecast. In the course of that conversation, details of Hull's past came up and he talked about how he used to be an actor as a kid.
Hull was probably most famous as "Gary" in the series "Are You Afraid Of The Dark," although he certainly didn't have the beard and moustache back then. It ran on Nickelodeon in the U.S. and YTV here from 1992-1996.
He also appeared on Stargate: Atlantis in 2014 and was in 65 episodes of "Student Bodies," a show about a high school and its newspaper that ran from 1997-1999. Here's the list of credits on his IMDB page.
It's not immediately clear how he went from being a star to predicting if you'd be able to see the stars, but it's a part of his past that - while definitely not hidden - I'd personally never heard of before. He got his meteorology degree from a university in Mississippi and graduated RTA at the former Ryerson in Toronto.

I did know. And it's "Student Bodies". I watched it when I was a kid.

Thanks. I've made the correction. That's a "Hull" of a resume!

Most of my friends (in their late 30s & 40s) knew about Ross Hull the actor, and are pleasantly surprised to hear he's now a meteorologist on TV.

Resurrected this old thread to note I didn't realize how many Ontario stations Hull has been at.
In addition to working for The Weather Network in Vancouver and then City TV in Calgary, Hull was once head of the weather department in both Windsor and London TV and then did the weather and more for CKCO in Kitchener. He followed that with a stint at CBC, on both the National and on its Toronto newscast.
He finally joined Global in 2014 and has been there ever since. Quite a journeyman in broadcasting.
You might say he knows which way the wind is blowing!
