I'm watching the on demand version of Global News @ Noon today running about 1/2 hour behind the actual air time and around the 15 minute mark, the screen goes black for a minute, followed by more ads and then when they return, it's no longer Marianne Dimain but Miranda Anthistle! Then following a couple of reports there's another ad break and it's Marianne Dimain again.
I've never seen that before.
Somebody must have needed a bathroom break I guess.

The live show must’ve had a problem and switched to the feed of their online news channel temporarily.

This isn't as unusual as you'd think. I first saw it a few months ago. For whatever reason, they promo right before the first break that Miranda Anthistle will be back after the break with the national and international news.
Following the commercials, she appears and reads the latest headlines from abroad, then they go to another spot break.
When they return, the local Global News anchor that started the show is back.
I also found it very odd the first few times I saw it and I still do. But I think what may be going on is that segment is sent to all the Global stations that have afternoon news shows and replayed as a cost saving measure. (Although why they don't just let their local anchors handle it I'll never understand.)
But this isn't due to some technical glitch. It's deliberate - if pretty strange. They do it almost every day.

The only other Global stations that have noon newscasts are BC, Edmonton, and Calgary. Those shows are all presented live from their own studios with their own anchors.

If they don't use this separate programming segment out west, it makes even less sense to do it. I've wondered about it ever since I first saw it and it's just one of the reasons I rarely watch Global for news in Ontario. Plus the commercial load in a half hour show is almost unbearable.
