Alan Cross & The CFNY Documentary: Could It Premiere At TIFF Next Yr.?

The long-awaited documentary on one of Toronto's (and Canada's) most significant radio stations is still in the process of being produced but veteran voice Alan Cross - who was there in those glory "Spirit of Radio" days - assures it's well under way.

In an update on his site, Cross notes one of the biggest chores yet to be done is getting the rights to some key music, one of the most important parts of the future film.

"...without the music, there’s no story to tell. I can tell you now that we’ll need music from Rush, The Cure, Talking Heads, Depeche Mode, OMD, New Order, Simple Minds, Martha and the Muffins, Teenage Head, Parachute Club, and a ton of others."

As for the possibility it could be on the TIFF marquee next year? He explains whether that's in the cards, as well as noting that the finished product will likely also be screened in Western New York, where CFNY had a decent-sized audience.
