CNN, North America's first 24-hour all news network, has seen better days. After a tumultuous ratings fall and a swirl of controversy about some of its reporting, the channel has hired someone with what looks like an impressive pedigree.
His name is Mark Thompson and he's had successful stints at both the BBC and the New York Times. He's also been knighted in the U.K. But can he turn the struggling entity around in a world with so many media choices? As the U.S. heads into another presidential election, we'll have to watch and see.
