August 20th is National Radio Day and - as Gary Owens used to say - National Radio Day FM!
Yes, it's a U.S. thing, but there's no reason we can't bring it north of the border.
For those without a push button radio, aren't you glad you use "Dial?" Don't you wish everybody did?
Too bad, though, that it falls on a Sunday this year, when most on the programming is pre-paid for infomercial junk.

However, if we were to recognize National Radio Day in Canada it should be on May 20th. The first documented broadcast heard by the general public happened three months prior to August 20th in Detroit.
The May 20th broadcast consisted of spoken word, music and general entertainment. The transmission was from radio station XWA in Montreal to a listening audience at the Chateau Laurier in Ottawa 175 km away. A full program was planned and the event was advertised prior to the broadcast in local newspapers in Montreal and Ottawa.
So because of this, National Radio Day, if ever recognized in Canada should actually be on May 20th. Isn't this the type of thing the Canadian Association of Broadcasters should be lobbying for?
