The ban on Canadian news sites by Meta - aka Facebook and Instagram - has resulted in some insane situations.
In one case, The Beaverton, a satirical website which produces nothing but ridiculous fictitious articles masquerading as "news," was being blocked. (It's now back on after the site complained in a typically hilarious letter sent to the Zuckerberg Empire.)
And then there's CIUT-FM, the U of T. FM station, which is primarily a music outlet and produces almost no news content, but depends on Facebook to spread the word about its shows.
Blocking of news in Canada by Meta affecting media outlets that don't produce news

Has anyone notified Trudeau?
Will he mount a white steed & swashbuckle his way to the rescue?
Stay tuned!!

Conservative political commentary on a message board that isn't about politics. Thank you for this rare treasure. You just can't get this level of insight anywhere else.

Agreed. I'm considering never visiting the big yellow board again if threads continue to morph into political B.S. like this. I recently dumped Twitter and Reddit for this same reason, and I shouldn't have to do the same for SOWNY.

I agree this isn't a political board and this should stop. So far, it's been pretty limited and I abhor censorship, so have been loath to put a stop to it. There are times we can't avoid it - as in say, Bill C-11. It's inherently political in some ways and it's often hard to avoid it when it's a federal policy.
But I would prefer we don't go there and yes, the comments about Trudeau et. al are inappropriate in most cases here and it would be preferable if they'd stop.
There are a ton of places to post this stuff and maybe those comments will be more welcomed there. They really aren't here.
