Two Amazing Facts About Two Corus Radio Personalities

I was listeinng to Roy Green on AM640 while out walking the dog Saturday. One of his guests was Greg Brady, the morning show host on Corus' Toronto station, discussing the best play-by-play calls and whether sports announcers make a difference in a broadcast.

At one point, Brady - who spent many years in sports radio - happened to let it drop that he's called several Super Bowls for the BBC. Who knew? (Turns out, it's in his bio, but I had no idea he was heard on the other side of the world, especially for such a huge network and such a massive sporting event.) I'd love to hear what that sounds like, although I'm not sure if he's still doing it.

As for Roy Green himself, he let it slip that he almost landed a job at WABC New York. He was, in his words "days away" from it happening, but then - for reasons he did not explain - the gig fell through and he never did wind up in the Big Apple.

A couple of fascinating trivia tidbits about two people you may hear all the time, but never knew.

Greg Brady was quite good when he was doing sports.   Many, many years ago,  Bill Watters & Brady had an afternoon drive time sports show on am640 which I quite enjoyed.  Very good rapport, insightful & funny.  I ran into Watters at a local dry cleaners a few times & he was quite outgoing friendly & quick with the smart aleck crack.

I know about his sports background - he talks about it often. I'd just be curious to hear what his "play-by-play" patter sounds like. And on the Super Bowl, no less!

I loved that show too, really enjoyed Greg and Bill, it was the first iteration of Leafs Lunch before it moved to 1050 and it followed The Stafford Show. Jeff Marek took over hosting duties from Greg with Uncle Willis for a time so I guess you could say 64O launched a bunch of radio careers. Bryan Hayes was the board op for Leafs Lunch at 640 (Im pretty sure) and has since gone on to helm the OverDrive afternoon show.

I like Greg on the morning show but in my opinion he's at his best and most natural when talking about sports.

I do miss hearing Bill Watters and his stories.

I'd assume someone at WABC listened to his tape.

I'd assume Roy Green has forgotten more about radio broadcasting than you will ever know Knapp.
