They've partnered with a Chinese automaker to bring karoake to the inside of electric cars. Yes, karoake inside cars.
"BYD cars are equipped with built-in karaoke microphones in the centre console, allowing users to enjoy the popular activity. Users can access a dashboard screen or use their mobile devices to select from a library of 100,000 songs. The platform enables the toggling of lead voices and automatic song queuing."
Apparently, Stingray has done this with other automakers, including Tesla and Audi.
Given the issue of distracted driving, what could go wrong? Apparently, the lyrics are not displayed on the in-dash screen while the cars are in motion. But it still doesn't sound particularly safe.
It could give a whole new meaning to Stingray's "Boom" if drivers aren't watching what they're doing.
