Butch Patrick Says Being "Eddie Munster" Wasn't Always Easy Off Set

The only surviving member of the original Munsters TV show recalls that while he loved being on the comedy, it wasn't always as easy for him when the make-up came off and regular life re-emerged. An interesting insider look back at a show many of us recall fondly from our childhood. But what a very different childhood he had.

It was interesting looking at the short pilot.  The original Eddie was creepy, hissing at his parents and clawing like a cat. Not a likeable character at all.  Yvonne DeCarlo was a better choice than the actress in the pilot.  Interesting that the pilot was in colour but not the series when it was approved.  Even for the second half of the season in 65/1966 The Munsters were still in B&W.   Hard to believe the $10,000 extra cost per episode for colour was a no go.

Today they would spend that on foot massages for the cast!
