July 29, 1972 and 1997
On this date in 1997 CBL AM 740 in Toronto was approved to move to FM at 99.1. Since the move to FM, the station (Radio 1) has been at or near the top of the ratings in the GTA.
It's the summer of '72, Toronto is getting ready for the CNE and this is what the CHUM chart looked like on this day in 1972...

The Stones had played MLG two weeks prior, hence Exile at #1 on the album chart.
Tickets for that show were sold at the Gardens box office and I lined up overnight on Church St. No one was willing to come with me so I was alone. I was lucky enough to bump into two girls I knew, and they had a sleeping bag!
Those were good days.
