Randy left Poco before the release of the first album because he was upset that Richie Furay did not allow members of the band ( aside from Jim Messina) into the mixing room. He was eventually replaced by Timothy B Schmid who also replaced him in the Eagles.

Here's is a picture of the album cover from the first Poco album with the image of Randy replaced by a dog. Something similar happened a year earlier when the Byrds fired David Crosby before the release of the Notorious Byrd Brothers album. Crosby contributed to the album but his place on the cover was taken by a horse:

Meisner and Furay reunited for Poco's 1989 album, Legacy (along with the three other original members), so I guess they must've buried the hatchet. The album scored two Top 40 hits, "Call It Love" and "Nothin' to Hide". Meisner sang lead on the latter.

and David Crosby, the horse with no name on the cover of "Notorious," reunited with the other original Byrds for their self titled album in 1973. An album not held in high regard but the three Genre Clark leads are nice. Unfortunately the hatchet did not remain buried and Crosby was at odds with McGuinn again and even his ex CSNY mates Nash and Young during the last few years.
