L.A. Professor Laments The Coming Loss Of CKWW Windsor & What It Means

He cites the history of CKLW's importance in radio and notes the oldies played on 580 AM may be the last link to what was The Big 8's legacy.

"AM580 is a reminder of the days when Windsor played an important role in the radio and music industries on both sides of the border.

"It is sad how the statue of Rosalie Trombley to be unveiled in Festival Plaza this fall may be the last reminder of the days when Windsor was where hits were made."

Re: L.A. Professor Laments The Coming Loss Of CKWW Windsor & What It Means

"AM580 reminds listeners that it operates “from the home of the legendary Big 8.” While the disc jockeys and newscasts are gone, that music continues to emanate from the station’s four towers in former Anderson Township (now part of Amherstburg)."
A correction here. It should be Anderdon Township. No doubt a victim of autocorrect.
