Rock And Roll Radio Pioneer's New Monument @ Mt. Pleasant Cemetery

I use the cemetery for exercise frequently and this is a new addition.   It wasn't there last week.

It's located opposite the Mausoleum and metres away from where Foster Hewitt, the Eaton family (see in the background) and A. J. Billes' (Canadian Tire founder) are buried.    Not far from here is also Knowlton Nash's final resting place and in the valley behind Eaton's, former PM John Turner and singer / songwriter Handsome Ned, so he's in good company.

Does anyone know the significance of "Coming James" at the bottom of the stone?

That's a good question and another reason why I posted it here.   I was also hoping someone would know.   There's no person named James in his obituary.

I believe it's a reference to magician Stewart James. Allan Slaight wrote a book with and about James and Mr. Slaight was revered in magic circles.

It doesn't happen often, but it's always fascinating to me to see what some people choose to have engraved on their tombstones, their final forever message to the world. I'm assuming he must have had that in his will but what a wonderful tribute.

The most famous gravestone I can think of that fully reflects the man who lies there is this classic from Hollywood. It simply could not have said anything more appropriate.

I must say Doug, I appreciate your contribution more than ever on this one because there's no way in the world I would have guessed that in a million years.    And I see a lot of tombstones in my walks at Mt. Pleasant.   I see Dial Twister has scans of Allan's books on Stewart James as well.   Really cool!   Time to hit the Library.

This is on the memorial to Selena Taylor, the 19 year-old daughter of Rush! drummer Neil Peart; who is buried with Neil's first wife at Mt. Pleasant.   Really hard to find grave under the Taylor name.   It's so solemn and sad.   Neal created a whole new life and family following  this tragic time and of course passed on a few years ago.    The crystal on the monument has a relief carving of the two of them and Neil, one for each side.    He's not buried there.
