Teksavvy Reportedly Up For Sale

The Globe and Mail has reported that telecommunications independent company Teksavvy is for sale.  I couldn't put up the story, maybe someone else can?

Re: Teksavvy Reportedly Up For Sale

This is horrible news for me, a decades-long and very satisfied Teksavvy customer. If a Rogers or a Bell gets hold of it, they will destroy everything that's good about it, including competent and reliable technical support based entirely in Canada and not overseas, as well as semi-reasonable rates.

I agree with the assessment that the CRTC's more than generous policies towards the Big 3 allowed this to happen. And that letting former chair (and former telco lobbyist) Ian Scott cave in to his buddies may have been the final nail in the coffin. Independent ISPs have been allowed to disappear, swallowed up in the maw of the greed mongers, who don't want competition. Shame on the government for allowing this to happen.

I may have to get a string and a paper cup for my future phone service and web access. I'm not sure I could live with myself if I have to pay Rogers and Bell for anything.

Same here .. I've been a very happy Teksavvy customer (VDSL, IPTV & LD) for pushing 15 years .. sad that Teksavvy can't fight fair & survive because the incumbents & CRTC have rigged the game.

In fact, I just had Teksavvy cable installed this past weekend as Bell is decommissioning my Bell landline which will sewer my Teksavvy VDSL.   I even turned down a large perpetual credit from Bell to stay with Teksavvy.

Re: Teksavvy Reportedly Up For Sale

Does Rogers have any money left to buy anyone after that big spend to take over Shaw?
I worry this could go to Bell,
but there's also no doubt in my mind it may go to Telus.
(even though they did buy Start.ca already...)

Telus picked up Start and Altima.  If I was a betting man....
